Made a book

Finally I got the chance to bind a book! I decided to do the japanese bind as it looked really nice and didn't seem too difficult. (How wrong was I?!) It took just over an hour to complete from scratch (with some assistance), main problems I encountered was the the actual binding of the book as it was quite a tedious process. I've finally discovered how accurate you have to be while making it, even a slight millimetre off will be evident when the book is book together.

Overall, i'm quite happy with the book, the pages are quite well aligned and the book opens quite nicely. The only 2 areas that I could have improved on would be the bind, where i've left out the end as I missed a whole when I binded it in the first place. The second problem was that the bind didn't seem tight enough, therefore the pages are quite loose.

Not only did I learn how to bind a book, I've also learnt to appreciate books more, having the tendency to check out the binding techniques of the books. I did find the practice very enjoyable and having the book completed was very satisfying so this will be another thing that i'll be experimenting and trying out a bit more in my own time.
